for the hospital of S. Angelo dei Lombardi
Last Saturday, I went in Irpinia at the invitation of the Citizens' Committee on September 22 of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi.
My choice to make a visit to their hospital was born from a demand for attention, sent to me and other MPs, and I decided to follow closely.
Nationals complained that, with the new hospital plan signed by President Caldoro, Commissioner, steps would be the closure of many wards of this hospital as small as efficient going to deprive the whole of the first aid station, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Banca Blood and Surgery. These departments will be added those of Gynecology and Pediatrics closed some time ago.
The closure of hospital wards is always a difficult page, but in this case, it is quite dramatic: we all remember the massive earthquake that struck the Irpinia and the consequent need for effective earthquake-resistant structures: this hospital is, is efficient and modern and at his side there is also a pavilion, Don Gnocchi Foundation, which is a center for neurological rehabilitation, cardiac technology.
Saturday I met with citizens, but also doctors, nurses, and technicians, trained and hardworking in total contradiction with the classic - the wrong - an idea that hospitals in the south are lacking.
This center, by contrast, is an example of good management and, above all, due to its location prevents the inhabitants of the area, especially during the winter, long distances to similar structures. In
Committee will take all these thoughts and questions: E
'closing some departments, including the ER, which we repair the colossal deficit the Campania region?
In the south there are many hospitals that do not meet earthquake standards and which arise in areas of high risk. This contrary to such standards and therefore represents a unique example of how to organize a structure of this type. Why private?
More than 70,000 people in Alta Irpinia is far from other hospitals and do not claim to leave what is there, it is efficient, open. They ask not to be abandoned to their fate.
I hope that politics does not remain indifferent to these serious problems and instead work to ensure that what is stipulated in Article 32 of the Constitution, the right to health, is respected.
