With the approach of the anniversary of January 27 next, my thoughts turn to the stories that populated my childhood as the son of a partisan, the pains of war, poverty, and inevitably the horrors perpetrated in the concentration camps by the delirium called "Nazi-fascism."
My thoughts are with the millions of innocent people who left, packed like cattle, to a cruel and inhuman, such as labor camps and extermination, not only Jews but also homosexuals, political opponents, Roma, Sinti, Gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentecostals, and - last but not least - the Disabled.
Seeing revival today, the seeds of xenophobia and racism, intolerance e della violenza, apre una ferita che non possiamo ignorare: è nostro dovere trasmettere, ai nostri figli e nipoti, i valori e le lezioni apprese da quel terribile periodo.
Gli errori compiuti nel passato sono una macchia indelebile nella nostra storia che non possiamo e non dobbiamo dimenticare: da essi al contrario dobbiamo trarre spunto perché episodi del genere non si verifichino mai più.
