Come ebbi a mio tempo ad evidenziare, in un recente passato trascorso nel sindacato, quando era in me ancora prevalente la convinzione, che questo fosse ancora pregno del significato etimologico che dovrebbe appartenergli di “insieme per la giustizia”, scoprendolo invece dotato di una deludente alterità, è mia ferma convinzione che l’uniforme dei Vigili del Fuoco, debba rappresentare il simbolo e l’orgoglio di essere parte integrante del Corpo ed in quanto tale, di rappresentare ed incarnare l’essenza dei principi universali di tutela e salvaguardia della sicurezza, public and private safety, these principles, which undoubtedly belong to us. Per queste ragioni vorrei non dover più assistere a sfilate di uomini in uniforme durante manifestazioni sindacali o politico sindacali, in quanto, mentre l’uniforme rappresenta anche me, un sindacato, un partito politico o una mera ideologia, può rappresentarmi come persona, ma sicuramente non rappresenta il Corpo Nazionale Vigili del Fuoco. Con la speranza che in un prossimo futuro, possa incontrarla personalmente, nel ringraziarla del tempo dedicatomi Le porgo distinti saluti.
